Ski touring/cat-skiing
The decline of the inland
ice over the last centuries,
has left a number of big,
but isolated ice caps in the
Maniitsoq area. During the
summer these icecaps lies in
between fiords and 2000
meter high mountains like
big shiny white islands. But
in winter and spring, it
creates a 4000 km² skiing
paradise with endless
possibilities for alpine
ski-touring. There are still
unexplored areas waiting for
first descents.
Ski-touring is a lot of
things. From day trips on
skis or snowmobile from
Apussuit Adventure Camp
or longer expedition like
trips to some of the more
remote areas.
We do not arrange ski
touring trips ourselves but
assist ski touring groups,
ranging from general
information on area to
logistical assistance. For
groups staying at
Apussuit Adventure Camp it is
possible to hire local
guides for day trips.
Skitouring by boat is very
popular in the area.
Kisaq
and
Kissavik
made week trips for maximum
12 people from April to the
end of maj months.
