Skiing

If you have skied the world - there is still Greenland.
 
For a number of years Maniitsoq has been regarded by greenlanders as the most exciting and challenging ski area in Greenland for both alpine and cross-country skiing. The it's only in the last few years, that the word has spread internationally.
 
Just outside the town you can find great cross-country skiing. The tracks offer plenty of opportunities for all levels of cross country skiing The terrain is often used for national championships. The tracks are normally open from March to the end of July.
 
There is also a small downhill ski resort close to the town. This place is run by a privat  local company. Apussuit is open from marts to the end of June.
 
30 km east of Maniitsoq is situated the Apussuit Adventure Camp. The camp is used as basecamp for skitouring activities and weekend-trips.
 
However, Maniitsoq owes its reputation as a great area for skiing to the slopes north and north east of the town. The large mountain and glacier area Maniitsoq offers great possibilities for both heli-skiing and skitouring.
